birthday/ Christmas present The Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy DVD reviewed HERE Quite a sound review. As a matter of fact, it's the
nicest review of the film I have read. All modern 'critics' hate the
film. lets see... LOL - Can't argue with this. I am thinking of the scene
where Marie Windsor bashes the Mummy on the head with that torch... "That being said, this
action-filled movie moves along at a brisk pace, and it would have moved
even faster if they had done away with the stupid song interlude" Action filled! It's DEFINITELY the best review I have
read!! "Evidently relations between the
studio and the actors had become strained" Not surprisingly, seeing that Bud and Lou
sued Universal 3 years earlier (when making Lost in Alaska). A+C
meet Dr Jeykll and Mr. Hyde did VERY well at the box office. There
next film, A+C meet the Keystone Kops didn't do well. Then Universal
produced this film. The final scene was very poor when you think of
how the other horror films ended - with the horror element taking
over. NEW
Buck privates book. Aug 2001. Scanning the net for
worthwhile A+C stuff to link to (I'm actually looking for new books to
buy). I come across this page. Apparently, Costello has mob
ties, both had high collection of dirty vids and Lou went to
prostitutes. Abbott
and Costello meet the FBI is a load of nonsense folks, but makes funny
reading just the same. Some woman reckons
the boys are making pictures in
the after-life. Have people got nothing better to do these
days? Where did this list come from? Getting emails from
people in the UK who want to get hold of A+C videos. In a town centre,
(Romford) not to far from me. I noticed quite a few A+C films for sale
in PAL. All the horror comedies, Lost in Alaska, In the navy, Foriegn
Legion and A+C go to Mars. Back to the Event. Here
is the schedule. Probably the only place in the world that you'll
see a public screening of A+C meet the Mummy :0) The naughty Nineties analysis coming very
soon. I re-watched it last night. I really don't like the way
the "Who's on first" sequence is set up. No one in the
audience actually laughs (under the directors orders). We're meant to
believe they do this routine in front of an audience and no one finds it
funny. There are slight chuckles (rumoured to be the crew), but
nothing like the laughter you get from the radio shows. make a note of it folks! and come back REAL soon :) LOADS of new stuff up
soon... OK: I have done some video files of "Slowly I
turned" the most asked about routine. The new site is being
processed as we speak. I have sent my details off. Just have to
play the waiting game now. Gonna upload LOADS of cool stuff for
you fans when it arrives. Got it all worked out. Will do a big A+C edit that will play
through Media player or Quicktime. Need to see some clips? Mail
me. I'm adding in some cool music too. Any specific music (or
none at all) you want over the montages, just let me know. I can't upload
though as the files are too big, so I shall be *cough* selling the CDs at a
VERY small price. Just enough to cover post and packaging. If
anyone is interested (though I can't do In the Navy or Time of their lives
as I have them in NTSC only), then mail me. I am sure we can work
something out.5 hours sleep in 2
days. Tired. Thanks to Dave for
that. I heard that the DVDs were taken off the shelves due to poor
sales. I'll do some on-line browsing Monday and see what DVDs are
out. I'd never bother forking out £15 for a movie I already have. But
I will be interested in DVDs with extras. A commentary sounds good.
Bought the Superman and Rocky Special edition DVDs. Both are
fantastic. Highly recommended. Got time now do get back with
this site (at least for the next 3 months). I've started a few
articles already. Realised that the worse footage A+C ever
made was when they were on Venus.HUGE thanks (again) to Rodney from Kentucky for
sending me a great quality "In the Navy" and "The Abbott
and Costello biography". I have "In the navy" already
but with 10-15 minutes missing footage! I had a great evening
watching them. Rodney, you're a pal! There is a great clip of
the boys promoting Dance with me Henry which is the first clip I will be
uploading. My day in Milton Kilnes went VERY
well. When I get the photos scanned in and sent of to one of the
people I went with, there will be a full article on the net which I shall be
linked too. Noone here is probably too familiar with Superman 4 but the
locations were tiny. Great fun.

C64, Spectrum, Megadrive, arcade games, Atari 2600 - Literally 1000s great
games that were HUGE in 80s and 90s.
"It is no work of art, but it rates well
enough in terms of sheer entertainment value."
"And while overall the production
values of the film are surprisingly elaborate, the mummy outfit looked
like some ragged pajamas."
Production values were pretty good really. Though dozens of shadows
in all directions in the "desert" ruins the image (typical of
B/W films)
I like "...meet the Mummy". it does move along at a nice
pace, but I feel it more of a 'gentle' comedy. Certainly not laugh
out loud stuff, but definitely amusing.
Anyway, Lou asked for more money after this film and Universal let them
go. Shame that. I reckon they would of made films for at least
4-5 years. Enough for them to make enough to get out their tax jam
and for Abbott to retire comfortably and Lou to try other things - if his
heart hadn't of given way.

Come and
meet me at The
Abbott and Costello meet the monster bash.
Held in Pittsburgh, Pennyslavania, USA. I have been invited by the
webmaster of the OFFICIAL Abbott and Costello webpage, www.abbottandcostello.net
to come all the way from the UK. After my year at Uni, I'll need a
break and this is ideal. June 2002. Check out the link.
Sounds really good. We're going as Bud and Lou (I'll be Lou :) if
you can make it, let me know and
I'll see you there)
If I had a second video, I could copy films in PAL for the UK fans.
The best I can do is to make WAV files and Stick them on CD to watch in a
window through the PC. I can't do whole films (unless you really wanted),
but if you want me to get the afore mentioned vids and pass them on to you
or you want the WAV files for the PC, then email
me

If I pass my HNC, then I am set for Uni.
They have offered me the software engineering course! :)![]()
My day out to Milton Keynes
(how long ago was that now??) article (with five other Superman fans) is
finally uploaded.
Fans of the Chris Reeve Superman movies may find it interesting95% finished the HNC. Had a RIGHT
nightmare getting to my University interview. The bloke who
interviewed me told me he'd let me in on the second year of the course, but
I'll wait till I open the champagne till I get an official letter.Moving servers within next couple of
weeks. Got a dot com address and 50 meg of space. Done some
screen captures and movie clips and an Abbott and Costello
presentation. I'll be doing some CGI stuff so the site will look a
whole lot better. Finally, here's an email I got
yesterday. Thought I'd share:I enjoy your A&C site very much. In the
US, A&C Meet the Mummy (and
perhaps some other of their films) are due out on DVD in late August
2001.In the Navy, Buck Privates Come Home, A&C Meet Frankenstein, and
A&C in the Foreign Legion have been released on DVD here. To my
knowledge, all are out of print except Frankenstein. I don't know why
Universal is releasing the Mummy if other DVD sales were poor. Did you
see the Frankenstein DVD? It's excellent, with great
commentary by Greg Mank, who also wrote an excellent book on the
Universal Frankenstein series. Also, in answer to your question asked in
A&C Meet the Keystone Kops, the "bunko squad" is the police
division you
would go to if someone tried to (or did) sell you something false. For
example, Costello should have gone to the bunko squad after getting (or
almost getting) robbed by Abbott in the "lemon routine" featured
in In
the Navy and their TV show.
Anyhoo, if anyone has info on the DVDs, please get
in touch. I'd like to know more and can share with everyone here.
I am very irritated with my ATI all in wonder
graphics card. I need to find this lead that will hopefully allow me
to capture video clips in Mpeg format WITH sound. At the moment, I get
the picture but no sound. At least Sonic rally looks a lot better with a
superior graphics card. :o\
I am also changing phone companies pretty soon
so I get free Internet access, when all this pans out, I will certainly be
editing my own Abbott and Costello promotion trailors. I have all the
software to include FX, titles, soundtracks etc. Should be a lot of
fun.
I have been mucking about with my new software
I'll be using to create my "Manic miner meets Abbott and Costello
game". There is absolutely loads to it. I am giving myself
a month to get totally comfortable with it then I will start work on the
game. Lots of great ideas. This will be the world's FIRST proper
Abbott and Costello game. Want to write the review to In the navy
but am burned out a little. I need to swot up on my C++ for
college. Have a big assignment due in Monday and I haven't even
started it yet. LOL.
I get a few emails a day now asking me
questions about Abbott and Costello. Nice to know I can do my bit for
the fans.
I am in talks about getting an extra
whopping 50 meg space for this site as well as a proper .com address :)As tired as I am, I did some "Hold
that Ghost" MP3s. Exciting news next week - hopefully.I am off to a place called Milton Keynes on Sunday which is about 60 miles
North of London. They filmed the exteriors to Superman 4
there. I am meeting up with other Superman the movie fans I met on
the net. Should be quite interesting to walk around the place I have
seen on TV so many times. I realise Superman 4 is very shoddy but
there are some of us who still love it ;) the soundtrack
rocks. Speaking of soundtracks, the score to Abbott
and Costello meet Dr Jeykll and Mr Hyde is terrific I
reckon. Last year I bought a new recording to the whole
of Chaplin's masterpiece, "City Lights". I was taken aback
at how fresh and alive the original score is when heard in 32 bit
technology. I REALLY wish they would treat some of the scores to Bud and
Lou's movies the same. Stingy Universal probably don't give them a
second thought. All the comic horror films they did had excellent
scores.
Hopefully, I am going to get my screen
capture card this weekend too. I want to learn to do screen
capturing. When I do, I will be sticking up clips from Abbott and
Costello's movies. I won't be sticking up the same old stuff you see
on the net, I will be sticking up incidental dialogue, like I do with the
Mp3s.
If anyone wants to donate 10 MEG of webspace for this so I can upload
LOADS of clips and Mps then I am all
ears :)
Next update coming Monday.
New Mp3s coming Wednesday night - Probably Hold That Ghost
Great news for the A+C fans who don't have
all the movies. I have been learning more MP3s software. I can
now upload sound files from the films and with going through this
rigmarole I just learned, I can get the files down pretty small in
size. I have just done 6 sound clips from Lost In Alaska. I
chose this film 'cos I watched it the other night. This film has
curious dialogue and strange scenes. I look forward to doing that
analysis...
If anyone wants to hear dialogue
from a certain film, email me.
Save the files ASAP folks, I plan to change them next week. Definitely
with a quality film, Hold that Ghost maybe :)
Anyways, get on over to the download page for
the files...
Just spent over an hour playing this EXCELLENT Jet set
willy sequel . Though it's for the spectrum
emulator and looks pretty poor by today's standards, it had me hooked
till I completed it. With the enabled infinite lives cheat, I DID finish
it so it CAN be done. At times you feel like you can't get out and you are
going round in circles but this design is first class. It's now
6:30AM! WOW, if you love platform games, you GOTTA take this
one!! It's having permanent residence in my downloads page :)
- Pa'h, who needs a Playstation2?
www.clickteam.com is a place where
you budding gamers might like to go. Next Christmas should see another
adventure of an 8 bit legend. Stay tuned tuned folks. More details
as I get them
I am wondering how long it is since A+C was
shown on terrestrial TV over here in the UK. A few do get shown on
Sky now and again. How are people supposed to watch A+C if they
don't show them on TV??
PS: I have the sound drivers fixed ! BO SELECTA!!!
Realised what a sheltered life I lead - Saw
my first wild rabbit Wednesday. Poor thing was dodging the traffic!
GREAT MP3s coming this way. EMAIL

soundtracks? EMAIL ME
HELLO of the week goes to Nichola - umm,

if I say hello to her on this site - hhmm, this Internet malarky ain't as
bad as I thought ;)
The BIG Abbott and
Costello Resurgence
follows very soon
Got to the END of "Grand theft Auto". Download LOADS of
suggestions here. Only a 10K text file.
Had a right lazy week this week.
I sat in this chair for 10 hours on Wednesday playing games.
Speaking of which, excellent news for you gaming A+C fans is that this
summer if my materials arrive OK, I will start programming a great A+C
platform game. A big game, the first ever one starring A+C so watch
this space as I am going to start a new page and keep you all to speed
with the developments as I go along.
Learning some art packages (as you can see). The official Abbott and
Costello fan club has had a good make over and now you can have the chance
to write about what you thought of A+C's movies.
Cross fingers I get into University this
year. if I don't then there is another route I can take with the
same destination.
Re-designed the site as my PC is all fixed now (except the sound
drivers - but I have the stereo on now and trying not to think about it). I bought
faulty memory, hard drive AND 2 faulty motherboards! THAT's unlucky :0(
I will be doing a new review of Bud and Lou the TV movie
over the weekend, Still really annoyed the PC lost a couple of hours work the other
week. Have loads to say about it so stay tuned. Strange movie.
I haven't actually watched any Abbott and Costello since January.
Been watching the Roger Moore James Bond films. Can't help but to like that
guy.
I will try to find some interesting stuff on the net and provide links here for you
all.l

Timing, Chemistry, spontaneous ad-libbing and rhythm.
Couple these with a hilarious comedian and the greatest straight-man
ever. Abbott and Costello is the answer.
I really ought to think of something to
fill this side of the page up...

Hey
Abbott, who's this guy here?

"Hey! Abbott and Costello!!
Why
Costello!! It's the creator of this website dedicated to us!
