The 4th of July is the time for
the colour Red White and Blue.
The perfect time for Picnics, with family and friends.
A time for parades and marching bands.
A time for get togethers on the beaches,
having BBQs and enjoying fireworks.

Hot July brings cooling showers,
apricots and yellow flowers,
firecrackers, flags, picnics and parties
that help us herald the birthday
of our country.

Independence Day, is a day to celebrate the birthday of
the United States of America.
Founded on July 4th 1776, with the signing
of the Declaration of Independence.
Happy Birthday to all my American Friends.

INDEPENDENCE DAY
The old truck roars.
Ready?
The short drive, down the hill,
'round the corner.
Many people, all a-stir.
Park in the midst of all the noise,
Sparklers, sprinkling.
Squeaky lawn chairs
and a sqeaky truck bed,
Until one person falls mute,
And the rest follow suit.
Everybody, everywhere,
So impatiently silent,
no one dares speak.
The quiet shatters,
it no longer matters,
With a BOOM! and a THUD!
The show begins.
All around, there are sighs and gasps.
But I am safe from the noise
Because Dad has a grasp
On my hand, so tiny in his.
I am protected from the show up above.
Again the truck starts,
And for another year,
we're having to part,
From the fireworked sky,
Where once again,
my Dad and I have continued tradition.

AMERICAN FLAG
As red as a fire,
As blue as the sky,
As white as the snow--
See our flag fly!
Three pretty colors
Wave at the sky,
Red, white and blue
On the Fourth of July!
Red, white and blue
Those colors are,
And every state has
its very own star.
Hold up the flag
Hold it up high,
And then say, "Hurrah,
For the Fourth of July!"

I LOVE RED, WHITE AND BLUE
(sung to tune of "When the Saints Go Marching In")
Our flag is red,
Our flag is white.
And in the corner it is blue,
Oh, our flag stands for our country,
How I love red, white, and blue!
Some stripes are red,
Some stripes are white,
And in the corner it is blue,
Oh, our flag stands for our country,
How I love red, white, and blue!

OUR COUNTRY
God bless our native land!
Firm may she ever stand
Through storm and night,
When the wild tempests rave,
Ruler of winds and wave,
Do Thou our country save
By Thy great might.
For her our prayer shall rise
To God, above the skies,
On Him we wait:
Thou who art ever nigh,
Guarding with watchful eye,
To Thee aloud we cry,
God save the State!
~John Sullivan Dwight~

A FEW SONG FOR THE CHILDREN:
STARS AND STRIPES
sung to the tune of "Row, row, row, your boat"
Wave, wave, wave the flag,
As we march around.
Hold it high to show our pride,
It must not touch the ground.
Wave, wave, wave the flag,
Dear red, white and blue.
Stars and stripes forever bright,
America to you!
OUR FLAG
sung to the tune of "Twinkle, twinkle, little star"
Stripes and stripes and little stars,
Oh, how beautiful you are.
Red and white and blue, that's true,
Waving proud for me and you.
Stripes and stripes and little stars,
Oh, how beautiful you are!
WE HONOR YOU
sung to the tune of "Happy Birthday"
Oh, red, white and blue,
We honor you.
You have red and white stripes,
And fifty stars, too.
SEE OUR FLAG
sung to the tune of "Mary had a little lamb"
See our flag, it's waving high,
waving high, waving high,
See our flag, it's waving high.
It's red and white and blue.
I'M PROUD OF OUR FLAG
sung to the tune of "Hickory, Dickory, Dock"
Our flag is red, white and blue,
There are stars and stripes on it, too.
I'm proud of our flag,
the United States flag,
And you can be proud of it, too!

4th JULY QUOTES
"We hold these truths to be self evident,
that all men are created equal."
~Thomas Jefferson~
"I know not what course others may take,
but as for me,
give me liberty or give me death."
~Patrick Henry~
"Our flag is red, white and blue,
but our nation is a rainbow -
red, yellow, brown, black and white -
and we're all precious in God's sight."
~Jesse Jackson~
"Our flag is our national ensign,
pure and simple,
behold it! Listen to it!
Every star has a tongue,
every stripe is articulate."
~Robert C. Winthrop (1809-1894),
Senator from Massachusetts~
"You can't appreciate home
till you've left it,
money till it's spent,
your wife until she's joined a woman's club,
nor Old Glory till you see it hanging
on a broomstick on a shanty
of a consul in a foreign town."
~O. Henry (1862-1919)~
