Dysart - seaward

This is one of the last houses of Pan Ha', showing the characteristic crowstep gables and stepped up entrance.  The salt pans would be kept in front, on the flat land and fired from beneath with locally mined coal to evaporate sea water leaving the precious salt.  These houses were recently restored by the National Trust for Scotland.
