Saint Fillan's Cave

A few steep steps up from the harbour, you can find the cave which legend tells us was inhabited by Saint Fillan.   As this is normally locked, a few more steps up to the Gingerbread Horse on the High Street, and you can borrow the key to get in.

Battling the terrible cold and darkness of winter, Saint Fillan had set himself the task of recording the scriptures prior to a day of Holy note.  This task was looking quite impossible until he was visited by a vision of Christ and thereafter his glowing palm enabled him to work day and through the dark nights.  For his pains, we remember him today.
