Early Dance or Historical Dance are terms used to cover the dances current in Western Europe, in courts and country houses, in taverns and theatres, from the Middle Ages up to the end of the 20th century. Information about these dances is derived from original sources and dance research and scholarship. The Early Dance Circle was established in 1984 and now represents dancers and dance groups throughout the UK, holding regular events, workshops, festivals, conferences, lectures and producing publications and educational resources to support dancers, teachers, choreographers, and anyone interested in the dance heritage of our culture. |
