Addenda - Gold Token Books

The Gold Token books, of which Super-Mag was only one of several different series of comics and hardbacks, appeared to be introduced in early 1964. Issue 1 of Super-Mag (which was unnumbered and undated, shown left) featured Uncle Scrooge in an adventure called 'Lost Beneath The Sea' - a reprint of one of the Disney Gold Key comics from 1963.

Edited, purportedly, by Walt Disney himself, the first issue introduces the new range:

"Super-Mags are a great new idea. I especially like them because they allow me to bring to you complete stories from many of our real-life and cartoon films. And, best of all, they allow me to include stories of some of my favourite friends from Hollywood - like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. So watch out for all the many Super-Mag titles which will be coming your way very soon and be sure to tell your friends all about them."
