And The Moral Is:
Money Is The Root Of All Evil... but it makes a fine Glook Nest too.
Today I Will Be Mostly Learning... :
The Greek currency is (or was) the Drachma.
You can't keep cattle on satellites.
Huskyisms:
You are always grimbling and gruzzling at me.
Gabblings:
"I can't wait to eat some dictum leaves... they're the natural food of the Gabblerdictums. You don't know anything, do you?"
"I'm not an animal... I'm a bird!"
Raeburnt:
To Dart "When you dont get leave, you complain. And when you do get it, you find work to do.
A Venusian Has...:
The ability to get excited about money.
Dont Call Me Pop!:
Haggarty is still trying to develop artificial beef. Raeburn thinks he should also develop some srtificial teeth to eat it with...
We also think Haggarty's laugh in response sounds a little false too!
The UGO Needs You:
Youre a Space Patrol man, not a detective. Nor a ...space policeman
Riding Along In My Monobile... :
Raeburn makes his first solo trip. Theres no stopping him now!
Im An Alien!:
All Martians have healthy appetites.
Glooks are deadly insects.
Gabbler can fly when on Mars (due to the lower gravity).
The other Gabblerdictums refer to the paper money as crackle (probably due to the noise it makes).
Ooh, Bitch... :
Gabbler: Gabblerdictums know how to keep their eyes open. Dart: Its a pity they dont know how to keep their beaks shut.
Forger: Pretty Polly, Pretty Polly... Gabbler: Pretty Stupid, Pretty Stupid...
Continuity:
Gabbler says he hasnt seen Husky in a month of Martian Sundays, suggesting this comes later into the series.
The Dictum Forest is a Martian Wildlife Preserve and weapons are not allowed there.
The flight time to Mars is only two days.
Plot Device:
Very convenient that the only artist in the gallery Dart, Husky and Slim visit turns out to be the one who painted the picture that leads them to the forgers.
Harmony For Strings:
Another nice chase with Husky running after an escaping villain and catching him in a rugby style tackle. The battle between Gabbler and the Glook is also done well.
2100 ?:
Paper money is still used at the start of the 22nd Century, and several currencies are referred to.
By staggering coincedence, the exhibition features abstract art from 1962.
Havent I Seen... ?:
The other forger was one of the Martian colonists in The Slaves Of Neptune.
The Martian artist is Professor Zeffer again.
Take A Break:
Gabbler hears Husky calling him then hears another Gabblerdictum bird talking. He turns and sees him.
"The whole of Earth's been flooded with false money.
Dollars, pounds, francs... even Greek Drachmas."
Colonel Raeburn
Astro Viewer Working:
We see Mars for the first time.
The lead forger seems to be a Martian but does not speak with the characteristic accent.
With four characters in the Galasphere control room (and only three puppeteers working on the series) some take turns being static, notably Slim at first, then Husky later.
In a somewhat surreal end, Gabbler is hit by the plastifoam gun but does not get covered. His beak moves, there are no words (only atmospherics) and his head seems to get stuck facing the wrong way.
Hoorah!:
Although only on screen briefly, the close up of the forged notes reveals a sense of humour by the production team. In big letters the note has NIX on it (meaning nothing), the words 1 Big Dud and across the top Not worth the paper it is (printed on?).
An imperceptible cut while panning allows Gabbler to see another Gabblerdictum at the end of part one.

Boo!:
The Martian artist wears an archetypal smock and beret.
And he appears out of nowhere! We pan across the gallery to follow Dart after he talks to Husky and joins Slim, then as we pan back the same way - there he is, sitting and awaiting his cue!
Returning to the Galasphere on hoverjets, Dart loses his bag of samples.
The Martian night sky again features Mars as well as its two moons.

London, October 24th 1963:
Colonel Raeburn is trying hard to locate a gang of forgers which is flooding Earth with counterfeit notes. Without knowing it, Husky stumbles on a clue and leads the crew of Galasphere 347 into strange adventures on Mars.
Malta, February 27th 1964:
Colonel Raeburn is worried about the large numbers of forged notes which are finding their way into the world's economy. Meanwhile, the crew of Galasphere 347 are on leave. Larry Dart and Slim take Husky to an exhibition of paintings with a view to improving his education, but the Martian is not impressed until he coms upon a picture of a Martian landscape. He recognises the scene as the Dictum Forest and is puzzled because the artist has shown a patch of desert.
Ready To Lift ?:
It is a little ironic that perhaps the only episode which adheres to the 'police in space' format promised in publicity is so dull, straightforward and not a little contrived. We get to see Gabbler in his native environment and he shines but other than that its a little dull.
