The families found so far are -

• Sheekey - 2 residents of Ireland, 9 residents of England and 1 resident of the USA

Most of the Sheekeys from England are listed as coming from Ashton - and seem to be connected to the Cheshire Branch (see also Births / Marriages for Ashton-Under-Lyne). The 6 arrivals from Ashton were -

Families in British Isles Today Using the address data for England / Scotland / Wales, there were 22 entries for Sheeky and 218 entries for Sheekey in 1998. Most of the Sheeky entries (9) are for the Bradford area.

The entries for the Republic of Ireland (in 1999) totalled some 23 addresses. These were broken down as; Sheeky - Louth 2, Cavan 1 and Dublin 1; Sheekey - Dublin 11, Louth 4, Wicklow 2 and Waterford 1.

Australia Today There are just three addresses for Sheeky family members (see also Sheekeys) -

Unfortunately there is no connection with the Sheeky families of Bradford, England - William Sheeky having migrated to Australia, directly from Ireland, on the "Fairsea" with his wife and daughter in 1956. So the fate of Henry / Harry Sheeky (b. 1893) who went to Australia from Bradford between the two world wars remains unknown.

Braddock, PA, USA - "On October 31, 1900, the post office at Rankin Station was discontinued, and free delivery from the Braddock office was installed to serve that borough. Rankin Station had been a post office since August 20, 1886. Mr. Walter S. Colmery was the first postmaster, and was followed in succession by Mr. Owen W. Sheeky, on July 19, 1888, F. G. Bishoff on April 15, 1889, Owen W. Sheeky again on October 17, 1893, and finally by George W. Nash on September 27, 1897."

Indiana, USA "University of Notre Dame du Lac is in Northern Indiana near the boundary lines of Michigan and Illinois, USA. It is owned and directed by the Congregation of Holy Cross, whose mother-house in the United States is located at Notre Dame, the name by which the university is most commonly known". In the archives of early students we find -

• July 1873 - Patk F Sheeky (aged 35) arrived on the vessel British Army
• August 1879 - Kate Sheeky (aged 30) arrived on the vessel City of London

William is thought to be the elder brother of Patrick Francis; parents John & Mary Sheeky (nee Heany). Kate is believed to have married Thomas Dugan in 1885 and could even be the sister of William & Patrick. All three are likely to have been born in Ireland but may have lived in England for a time.

Bethel Township, PA, USA -  guestbook entry "Interesting page, guess it helps to be from Bethel. Lived in Bethel from 61 thru 68. My brother still lives at the old homestead on Green Street. Must say I had an enjoyable childhood growing up in Bethel. Had an interesting experience in Viet Nam, it isn't unusual for people in the service to become friends with people from the same state. Meet a gentleman from Pa. and we talked our way from Philadelphia all the way to Foulk Rd. Found out we lived a mile apart from each other. His name was George Guthrie and lived on Foulk Rd. Arthur D Sheekey, Public Service Telecommunications Corporation. Arthur Sheekey joined the Public Service Telecommunications Corporation (PSTC) in May 1995 and served as its President until April, 1997. He currently serves as a senior policy advisory to Dr. Louis Bransford, CEO or PSTC. Dr. Sheeky has worked as a consultant to The Aspen Institute's Communications and Society Program, University of Maryland's College of Education, Montgomery County Public Schools, Youth Policy Institute, National Community Education Association, and National Urban Fellows Program. He also represented Information Gatekeepers, Inc., a publishing firm based in Boston. During the past two years, he participated as a panelist at several national conferences and has written more than two dozen articles on education policy and telecommunications.e-mail sheekey@apt.org

• BBC News had a story about a fatal accident involving a Sheeky in London at http://news.bbc.co.uk/low/english/uk/newsid_402000/402819.stm
• T J Sheekey, Ice & Cordial Factory, Canberrra, Australia in 1926 - also found "OUTSIDE CANBERRA 1929 (listed Braddon) - SHEEKY, Terence cordial manufacturer Cooma Street, Yass, land (Sheeky supplied the cordial used at the opening of old Parliament House in 1927)" - different spelling but most likely the same company. [Note - this company was probably owned by Terence, son of Patrick Sheekey - linked to Cooma Street - and nephew of Cornelius Sheekey a "cordial manufacturer of Goulburn"]
• London Time Out magazine recommends a restaurant in the West End called - J Sheekey. "You know you’ll never get into The Ivy, so why not try here instead - it’s owned by the same people, and run to the same formula. Around £50 per head.
