FLINT FINDS DEVON, DARTMOOR AND CORNWALL

Below are some of the examples of recent lithic finds on the High moor by me and Sam plus some of my earlier finds in Cornwall. These tools were all found on the surface whilst walking. As we find more I will get their pictures on the net.

A fine example of a Bronze age arrow head. (Well I think it's Bronze age unless anyone tells me different)! This one was found by me in the Autumn of 1999.

Another Bronze age tanged arrowhead in perfect condition found by me a week before the top one. It's amazing what can be found if you keep your eyes open when walking on the High moor. Unfortunately thats the only pictures I have done at the moment but we have many more different lithic finds to stick onto this page when we get chance.

This was found by Sam last year. We have not yet had it identified but it's about 3.25 inches long and about half an inch wide. Anyone got any ideas?

Another fine arrowhead found by Sam last year, it's perfectly made and about half the size of my two.

A broken arrowhead, found by Sam last year.

Yet another older arrowhead we think, again we have yet to get this identified but it certainly appears to be older than the Bronze age arrowheads we have found to date, possibly Neolithic and may even be Mesolithic. Mesolithic impliments have been found in the past not too far from where we found this one. Mesolithic sites are not common on Dartmoor.

Some fine Arrowheads found in Cornwall by me in the late 1980's.

The bottom view of an inverted arrowhead from the far West of Cornwall.

Top view of above inverted arrowhead.

A fine flint knife blade found on the Haldon hills near Ashcombe.

A typical flint scraper found recently on Dartmoor.

A good example of a flint scraper from the far west of Cornwall.
