This story has a happy ending for one Charlie .....
Recently I was sitting in the Waiting Room at my vets, when a lady came out of one of the consulting rooms with a tricolor Charlie. Naturally (my curiosity getting the better of me) I sought her out and began to talk to her.
She was an elderly lady who had never owned a dog before and even she was surprised that she had "taken a Charlie on" in the latter days of her life. I asked if I could stroke the dog and he was very friendly.
The lady told me that the little dog had only been with her for a few months - I said that he was remarkably friendly because sometimes they can get quite frightened when changing homes when they are older.
His was a sad tale - Marty had been found lying by the side of his owner, who had been dead for two days before anyone noticed that she had not been seen around. The dog was very upset when he was taken away from her body.
Looking at him it was obvious that he was beginning to trust this lady and I can only hope that they both enjoy a happy life together ………..
