House Clearance

Home
Factsheet

A large part of our work is the sale of house clearance, many of which are on behalf of local solicitors acting as executors of estates. I believe the only way to ensure effects are sold for a realistic market value is to offer them at public auction and for this reason I do not buy house clearances. Although selling to a dealer may appear to be an easy, low risk option, you need to remember that a dealer is in business to make a profit, so whatever you are offered is unlikely to be any more than half the market value. Although you will incur charges such as haulage and commission when selling at auction, you will at least be certain that you have received a fair market price for your goods. There are various options depending on your circumstances.

House Clearance Options

Full Clearance Service : Appraisal of the items for sale with estimate of the overall value. Quotation for clearing the property and delivering to the salerooms and estimate of net proceeds from sale. The property will be fully cleared by arrangement and unsaleable items disposed of (The auctioneer reserves the right to make a disposal charge notifiable in advance). Fully itemised sale report showing lots as sold, hammer prices and deductions for commission and charges.
Appraisal & Sale : If you are able to pack and deliver items to the saleroom yourself, you will save money on haulage charges. I will advise on unsaleable items and approximate values at the Salerooms. Fully itemised sale report.
Part House Clearance / Individual Items: We can arrange collection of individual items or part clearances - please ask for a quotation.
