Henry Mossop
Henry Mossop (1868-1932)

Henry was born on the 9th August 1868 at Ribton Moorside, Hensingham, Cumberland. He was the illegitimate son of Mary Jane Mossop.

He was baptised on the

On the 1871 census he is shown living at Ribton Moorside, Hensingham with his mother and grand parents
On the 1881 census he is shown living at Borrowdale Place, Eskdale with his mother and step father, he is also recorded as being 22 and a labourer on the railways, he was in fact 12 years old at the time.
On the 1891 census he is shown living at High Row, Hensingham with his wife and sister in law.
On the 1901 census he is shown living at High Hensingham with his wife and children.

He married Amanda Eleanor Cregeen on the 9th June 1890 in the Register Office, Whitehaven, Cumberland. She was the daughter of Edmund and Eleanor (nee Trewartha), she was born on the 12th June 1870 at Kirk Rushen on the Isle of Man.

They had 10 children:

  10. Sydney, born 30th April 1910

Henry was a coal miner all his working life.

He died in 4 Streetons Buildings, Hensingham, Cumberland on the 8th July 1931, his burial took place on the 11th August 1932 in Hensingham cemetery.

Amanda Eleanor died in Hensingham, Cumberland on the 26th February 1961, her burial took place on the 1st March 1961 in Hensingham cemetery.
