Joseph was born abt 1897 in Gosforth, Cumberland. He was the son of William Dodgson & Elizabeth (nee Mossop)

SEASCALE WAR ITEMS
Joseph Mossop, younger son of Mr Wm D. Mossop, Albert-street, Seascale, has joined the Border Regiment. He left Seascale on Sunday evening to join his Battalion at Whitehaven. There were a good number to bid him good-bye. Both of Mr W.D. Mossop's sons have now enlisted, making 27 belonging to Seascale now serving the Colours, 19 of whom have joined since the outbreak of the war.
