WILLIAM MOSSOP
William Mossop (1834-1901)

William was born 1834 in Hensingham, Cumberland, he was the third born of William & Ann (nee Douby).

He was baptised on the 19th January 1834 in St Johns, Hensingham, Cumberland.

On the 1841 census he is living at Hensingham, Cumberland with his parents and siblings.
On the 1851 census he is living at High House, Eskdale, Cumberland employed as a Bobbin Turner.
On the 1861 census he is living at Cross Keys, Irton, Cumberland with his wife and children.
On the 1871 census he is living at Keyhow, Irton, Cumberland with his wife and children.
On the 1881 census he is living at Holmside, Irton, Cumberland with his wife and children.
On the 1891 census he is living at Eskdale Green, Cumberland with his wife, son Charlie and grandson William.

He married Ann Porter on the 10th July 1858 in St Peters, Drigg, Cumberland. She was the daughter of Isaac & Elizabeth (nee ?), she was born abt 1835 in Drigg, Cumberland.

They had eight children:

  5. Jane, born 3rd October 1867
  6. Hannah, born 25th April 1871

  8. Charlie, born 7th October 1876

William was employed as a Bobbin Turner, Railway Labouer and a General Labourer.

William died in Eskdale Green, Cumberland on the 27th February 1901, his burial took place on the 2nd March 1901 in St Catherines Churchyard, Eskdale, Cumberland.

Ann died in Gosforth, Cumberland on the 22nd July 1909, her burial took place on the 24th July 1909 in St Catherines Churchyard, Eskdale, Cumberland..
