Mae'r Band yn cychwyn am Leeds heno, yn barod at y gystadleuaeth yfory. Diolch i bawb am eich negeseuon o gefnogaeth, a diolch arbenning i Gari Wyn Williams (http://www.gariwynwilliams.com) am ddod atom i dynnu lluniau o'r ymarfer nos Lun diwethaf. Mae'r Band hefyd ar raglen Wedi 7 heno - 7 o'r gloch ar S4C.

We leave tonight for Leeds, read yfor tomorrow's contest at Harrogate. The Band is featured on S4C's 'Wedi 7' programme tonight at 7pm.

Dydd Sadwrn nesaf (25.09.2009) fe fydd y Band yn cynrychioli Cymru ym Mhencampwriaethau Bandiau Pres Prydain. Croeso i unrhyw un ddod i'n ymarferion drwy'r wythnos yma i wrando ac i roi cefnogaeth i ni. Y darn prawf yw 'A Scot's Miscellany' gan Alan Fernie.
Next Saturday (25.09.2009) we will be representing Wales in the National Finals in Harrogate. A welcome to anyone who wishes to come and listen to any of our rehearsals throughout the week - your support will be greatly appreciated. The test-piece is Alan Fernie's 'A Scot's Miscellany'. Here are some of our thoughts on the piece:
MD Gavin Saynor says "There is plenty of opportunity here for bands to show various qualities. The band particularly like the 2nd movement, and hope to gain valuable points with the warm sound of the band. The 3rd movement has caused a few problems, mostly for the treasurer who has had to order some well needed valve oil for the bass section!"
17 year old flugel soloist Cai Jones added "There is plenty to do throughout the whole piece. The music changes character quite often and the players have to respond instantly. This will be a challenge". Principal baritone Osian Tomos was also wary of the various styles within the piece "I think most bands will be able to play the piece. I think the prize winners will be those bands who will handle the style changes effectively".

Ail-Strwythuro'r Ieuenctid - Youth Re-Structuring

A hithau’n ddechrau tymor newydd yn yr ysgolion, cynhaliwyd cyfarfod o rieni aelodau iau band Deiniolen nos Lun, Medi 14eg yn yr Hen Feli (Cwt Band) . Roedd yr ystafell yn llawn o rieni ac ieuenctid a chawsant gyfle i wrando ar gynlluniau’r band gyda’r plant a’r ieuenctid yn greiddiol i ddatblygiad cymuned ehangach y band. Gyda chynnydd yn y niferoedd sy’n dangos diddordeb mewn ymuno â’r band, bydd y chwaraewyr iau yn cael eu dosbarthu i dri grŵp - y Band Bach, y Band Iau a’r Band Ieuenctid. Bydd hyn yn rhoi cyfle i bob un ddatblygu a chyflawni ei b/photensial ac yn sicrhau fod pob un aelod yn cymryd rhan weithredol beth bynnag fo’i oed neu’i allu.
“Mae’r pwyslais yma ar fwynhau a theimlo’n falch o fod yn aelod o gymuned y band” meddai’r Cadeirydd, Irfon Morris wrth annerch y rhieni.” Mae’r band yn ymrwymo i roi pob cyfle i bob un ddatblygu yn ôl ei botensial a’i ymroddiad drwy’r grwpiau yma’i gyd gyda’r nod yn y diwedd o fod yn aelod o’r Band mawr. Mae pob aelod cyn bwysiced i ni a’i gilydd beth bynnag fo’i oed neu’i allu ac fe fyddwn yn gwneud pob ymdrech i sicrhau fod pob un yn cymryd rhan lawn yng ngweithgareddau’r band.”
Wrth gyflwyno’r patrwm newydd hwn mae’r band yn credu y bydd pob aelod yn cael profiadau cyfoethocach. Bydd y bandiau Bach ac Iau yn cael eu hyfforddi gan dîm brwdfrydig o diwtoriaid sef Jeni Lyn Morris, Llio Morris, Danial a Liam Taylor a hynny ar bnawn dydd Sul yn yr Hen Felin. Mae’r pedwar ohonynt eu hunain wedi eu meithrin ym Mand Deiniolen. Bydd y band Ieuenctid yn parhau i fod dan arweiniad Hefin Goronwy Jones, fu wrth y llyw ers dros 20 mlynedd gydag Osian Tomos yn ei gynorthwyo. Byddant hwy yn ymarfer ar nos Lun. Yn cadw llygaid ar waith y tri band bydd Wyn Williams ( Arweinydd Band Deiniolen) a Gavin Saynor ( Cyfarwyddwr Cerdd Band Deiniolen). Yn ystod y misoedd nesaf bydd rhai o’r band Ieuenctid yn cael eu gwahodd i ymuno â’r band mawr yn eu hymarferion. Y gobaith yw y byddwn yn y dyfodol yn eu gweld ar lwyfannau Cymru a phellach gyda’r Band.
With the beginning of the school year, the Deiniolen Band took the opportunity of thanking an excellent turnout of parents of its younger members at a special event at the wonderful “Hen Felin” (The Old Mill) bandroom on Monday September 14th. The occasion gave the parents a chance to hear the organisation’s vision for the future development of Deiniolen’s youth bands and to outline the importance of the youngsters’ involvement within the community of the band. With the increased demand for membership, the youngsters will now be split into 3 groups –Junior, Intermediate and Youth Band. This will give all members the opportunity of fulfilling their potential and will guarantee that all members will be able to take an active role within the band whatever their ability.
“The emphasis is very much on the enjoyment of being a member of the wider community of the band” said a delighted chairman Irfon Morris. “The band ensures that there is ample opportunity for youngsters to progress through the ranks, hopefully into the Senior Band, whilst also ensuring that those members who do not wish to take this path are also fully involved in band activities. All of our youngsters share equal status within the band regardless of age or ability”.
With the creation of the three tier format the band feels that all members will receive the best possible experience. The Junior and Intermediate Bands will be run by the dedicated team of Jeni Lyn Morris, Llio Morris, Danial and Liam Taylor. All four have come through the ranks of the organisation. The Youth Band will continue to be conducted by Hefin Jones, the bands conductor for the past 20 years. He will be assisted by Osian Tomos. All three groups will be overseen by the combined team of Gavin Saynor (Musical Director) and Wynne Williams (Resident Conductor).

Band Cymru - National youth Band of Wales
Ym mis Gorffennaf cafodd dau aelod ifanc o'r band, sef Sion Elwyn Hughes a Manon Elwyn Hughes, brawd a chwaer o Fethel, brofiad bythgofiadwy, wrth iddynt gael eu dewis i fod yn aelodau o Fand Pres Ieuenctid Cenedlaethol Cymru - y trydydd pâr o'r un teulu o Fand Deiniolen i ymuno â'r Band Cenedlaethol! Mae'r Band bellach wedi gweld 11 o aelodau yn cael eu dewis i'r Band Cenedlaethol - sy'n dyst i'r gwaith caled sy'n cael ei wneud gyda'r bobl ifanc sy'n ymaelodi â'r band.
July saw two young members of the band on the recent National Youth Brass Band of Wales summer course. Brother and sister, Sion Elwyn Hughes and Manon Elwyn Hughes became the third set of siblings from Deiniolen to appear with the band, increasing the number of players from Deiniolen to play for Wales to 11 - proof of the on-going dedication and success of the band's youngsters.

Welsh Regional Championships

Cafwyd perfformiad gwych o'r darn prawf 'New World Sketches' gan Dan Price, a sicrhaodd yr ail wobr i Fand Deiniolen - canlyniad sy'n sicrhau lle ym Mhencampwriaethau Prydain yn Harrogate ym mis Medi.
The band gave an excellent performance of Dan Price's 'New World Sketches' to come second, and to secure a place in September's National Finals at Harrogate.
