The Parish Church of Sarum St. Martin serves the south east quarter of the city of Salisbury – Milford, Petersfinger, the Friary and Exeter Street. The church, however, pre-dates the modern city and its chancel is Salisbury’s oldest building. It may even date from Roman times, when Old Sarum was a fortified city, and this was a “St. Martin’s in the Fields.”

In addition to the usual parochial responsibilities (education and care of the elderly are especially important), the parish extends a warm welcome to others from further a-field who appreciate good music and liturgy, and traditional catholic proclamation of the Gospel. The wide range of services includes a daily celebration of the Eucharist.
St. Martin’s is the oldest continuous home of any Christian community in Salisbury.
