12 hints and tips


1. Make the box big enough to hold all the circuits.

2. On a pool table keep the ball return chutes along the sides and ends so leaving space for the circuits in the middle.

3. Make the ends of the box small enough to be sanded on the sander - if possible.

4. Label circuits.

5. Keep a copy of your wiring colour codes - it will look good in your write up.

6. Don’t paint your project - if you really must do this in February.

7. Don’t mark out football pitches in tippex - use thin strips of white insulating tape.

8. Switch your project off at the end of the lesson.

9. Use corner reinforcing blocks. To save time and bother cut them to length before gluing them in.

10. Don’t put off the write up - you will still have to do it.

11. Solder properly - soldering iron tip, solder, component lead and pad on circuit all to come together all at the same time!

12. Put your work away carefully.

13. Cut LED and switch holes in the box before assembly.
