Cambuskenneth is a small, rural community, a conservation haven in the bustling city of Stirling. The village boasts a beautiful Abbey of great historic value and a small population that respect and value both the community and our way of life.

The Community Council meeting is our main forum for discussing issues and concerns in the village and this Community Plan has been produced based on the views and opinions raised on a regular basis at these meetings.

This document is intended to be a 'living' document constantly open for comment, change and review by the community.

The plan will be submitted to the Council and used in the larger Area Forum community to represent Cambuskenneth and its residents at that forum.

Environment

• Roads

Review of traffic management both entering and within the village, i.e. speeding, parking, etc

Continued maintenance of roads and pavements within the Community Council area.

• Riverbanks

The regular cleaning of the river banks of vegetation and rubbish is of high priority to the Villagers and visitors alike to ensure a clean and manageable environment for the residents and patrons of the historic monument of the village

• Grasscutting

Continued maintenance of all grass areas

Community Facilities

• Public Areas

The public areas of Cambuskenneth are used by residents and visitors alike. The following issues have been highlighted as a priority at this time.

Installation of Seat - a seat has already been purchased by the Community Council and we require funds to install this seat near the Abbey

Replacement of Railings in Ferry Road - these are in a very bad state of repair and require immediate attention

• Play Areas

Upgrading of footpaths in the Village Play Park

Installation of basketball net and adequate space for children to play with this amenity

• Website

A website has been set up by one of the Community Councillors. Ongoing maintenance of this website is required.

Tourism

Cambuskenneth is a historic village with an important part to play in local tourism. In order to attract visitors to the village there are 2 main areas which need to be addressed

updated signage to the entrance of the village

signage to direct tourists from the public bridge to the abbey

Policing

The village is currently supported by our local community policeman and this service has been of great value and very effective in resolving some of the issues
