March PaintingThat's three good painting months on the trot! ![]() Eight bases of transport for the French this month - Pithead again. I built a new body for one out of plastic card, and stuck a couple of spare wheels onto others. ![]() And a third infantry battalion, with a command base. That completes the first load of figures I bought from Pithead just after Christmas. ![]() The start of the 7th Panzer Division - Pz38(t)s from Magister Militum, picked up at the Cavalier show in February. I have the rest of this battalion on order from Pithead - PzIIs and PzIVs. Unfortunately the spray varnish I used seems to have darkened panzer grey into panzer black... I think a re-highlighting session is in order here. ![]() Another dreadnought for my Fallen. I found the top half in my spares box and mated it with the legs from a plastic sentinel and some shins from the plastic Dark Angel sprue. It's quite a bit taller than your common dreadnought, so it'll probably end up as a fire magnet. ![]() A Bob Murch sculpt from Pulp Miniatures. Even now I've painted him, I'm still not sure whether he's a misunderstood hero or a cold-hearted villain. Even worse, I can't remember who makes the treeman! April is Salute, so I'll be up at Excel on the 18th and 19th. Next Month, I'm hoping to paint up French recce, gun tractors and armoured cars, a few German tanks and some CO/HQ bases for the infantry - they are rather sparse at the moment. The other thing I'm thinking about is scenery - with figures this small, much of the visual impact of the game has to come from the layout (a bit like model railways, I guess). On that note, I have been given a few yards of N-gauge track and I've also picked up some railway scenic bits, so I intend to do something to improve the look of my games over next month. I may even resort to sculpting some walls and fences, making a mould and casting a few bits of my own! |
