September Painting

September was a bit of a bumper month, all told! Black Reach came out this month, and I expected to be able to paint plenty of orks in September. Unfortunately, the club 40k tournament starts in October and there's no way I'll have enough painted in time, so I'm going with a revised Chaos list - including a couple of Land Raiders I picked up cheaply on eBay that need a bit of work. Apart from that, the rest of 2008 will be largely orcs, with a bit of 10mm WW2 thrown in for good measure.

Black Reach boyz

Ten boyz from the boxed set - painted in a couple of hours. Dark grey undercoat, followed by foundation paints in red, green and two browns, along with boltgun metal. Then a coat of GW's black wash over the whole lot. After picking out teeth, eyes and the red shoulder pads, I'm perfectly happy to put them on the table. Just as well, really - I have managed to get four complete sets of Black Reach orks through a few judicious swaps...

Burna boyz

Painted exactly as for the boyz, but over a black undercoat. I will probably go with grey in future because then I don't need to highlight black clothing. I found these awkward to assemble and paint - in the end, I painted them in pieces (body with head, left arm, right arm, backpack) before assembling them because I couldn't see how I would get access once they were put together.

Black Reach nobz

These were my test pieces - I got given quite a few at the Warlords and I have tried to make them all slightly different. Again, black undercoat and foundation paints

Plague Marines

Ten plague marines - I stretched the boxed set out with plastic parts from the spares box. Easily done for Nurgle; a bit of green stuff makes a very effective festering growth and the three-circles symbol is easily added with the blunt end of a small drill pressed into the soft putty.

Wanton wench

Meredith de Vere, a wanton wench for my pirate crew. Fairly cheap, and she can't be attacked until she has attacked someone - which should be very useful in games where you need to investigate objectives. I think she was from Black Cat Bases... they also do some specialist crew such as a surgeon and a carpenter that I will try to paint up before the end of the year.
