In Daniel & Samuel Lysons 'Magna Britanica', Bedfordshire Volume (1806) Ampthill was described as "...a small neat town, pleasantly situated, but in a sandy soil." Today Ampthill is known for its Georgian character buildings. However many conceal a much older history behind their elegant façade. Much has been written about Ampthill and it is intended to provide more information over the coming months.
