Let It Be

Front Cover

The Backgrounds
As you look at the front cover, probably one of the first thing that strikes you is that John, Ringo and George all have white backgrounds whilst Paul's is blood red. Was there a reason to associate Paul with blood?

Out of Sync
Again, like the front cover of Abbey Road and Revolver, John, George and Ringo are all facing towards the left whilst Paul is looking straight ahead, again implying that he is somehow different from the others. Why is this suggestion continually being put to us?

Hiding the Scar
The photo of Paul in the White Album set was quite a brave move because it showed his lip scar so clearly. In this photo however there is a microphone covering his face, or more particularly, covering the scar. Was this a deliberate move to do more to cover it up since fans were now starting to learn of the conspiracy?

The Black
This was the Beatles final LP to be released and the whole mood given is very sombre. The Let It Be cover was the first Beatles LP to be framed in black, possibly hinting at a mourning.

The Back Cover

The Sombre Mood
The back cover is giving off a very sad, sombre atmosphere and looks like an obituary (just like the gatefold for the White Album). The faces of all four Beatles seem to be showing a great upset and John looks like he's bawling tears. Why was such an unhappy back cover designed for what was to be the Beatles final LP released?

The Gatefold

The Unusual Neck Holding
The gatefold version of the sleeve was only on the US pressings. It was done as a kind of compromise after they refused to produce the lavish box set. Within the gatefold you can see Paul holding his neck in a very unusual way, possibly symbolising the neck injuries sustained in the car crash?

Hiding the Scar #2
There's a second detailed photo of Paul's face in the gatefold. Again, like the front cover a microphone is conventiently placed to hide the scar on his top lip, thus increasing the possibility that this was done deliberatly.
