Frozen
Paul?
At
the beginning of the film the Blue Meanies are shown attacking Pepperland.
As they freeze the population the side profile of a man suddenly
comes full into shot before getting frozen. Now, is it me, or does
this person look a lot like Paul McCartney? Why is Paul being shown
getting hit? |

The
Gravestone #1
During
the sequence for the song 'Eleanor Rigby', the yellow submarine
is shown flying behind a gravestone. On this grave is the message
'No. 49 - Here Lies Buried'. Is it more than coincidence that 'Paul'
has 4 letters in it, and 'McCartney' has 9? Also take into consideration
"I buried Paul"... |
| |
The
Gravestone #2
Keeping
with the gravestone; notice the name written at the very bottom?
Yup, it's William! Was this name placement coincidental or was this
an almost subliminal announcement to the world of the groups newest
member? |
| |
The
Phone Box
During
the sequence for Eleanor Rigby there's an interesting shot of a
man stuck inside a red phonebox who's strugging hard to try and
get out. If this a reference to Paul strugging whilst he was trapped
in the burning car before he died? |
| |
The
Biker
Also
during Eleanor Rigby we're shown an image of a biker, complete with
helmet and goggles, standing there wide-eyed and crying a lone tear.
Could this be a representation of a crowd member at the crash site? |
| |
The
Road Signs
Near
the end of the Eleanor Rigby sequence a sudden, unexpected collection
of UK traffic warning signs appears. Nowhere in the song are road
signs mentions, or even hinted at on any emotional level, so why
exactly were they all added in? Are they symbolising Paul's crash,
and the warnings he missed whilst being man-handled by Rita? |
| |
The
Car Crash
When
Fred knocks at Ringo's door, they hop into a car and go to look
for the others. After John and George are collected they all jump
into the car and drive off screen. Soon after a horrendous car crash
is heard before the guys all walk back into view calling out for
Paul. Hmmm... searching for Paul after a car accident...? |
| |
The
Car Crash #2
If
you watch the movie, you see that when the Beatles drive off in
their car they drive to the left - down towards the entrance area.
It's down here where you hear the loud, horrendous car crash. So
is there anything down here where the car crash occured that should
be looked out for? Well, if you go back to when you see the whole
corridor you can see that high on the wall where the crash occured
is an image of what appears to be a person being laid to rest complete
with flowers along the side of what could be interpreted as a coffin.
Is this Paul inturred? Is this a memorial at the crash site of the
fallen bass player? Does this mean that there's a memorial at the
actual crash site where Paul was allegedly killed? |
| |
Paul's
Entrance
When
Paul appears for the first time he is greeted with the enthusiastic
cheering of an audience and then a bouquet of flowers is handed
to him. This is exactly how an actor is rewarded after an excellent
performance. Could this be a sort of cryptic thank you to William
for giving such a convincing performance? |
| |
Only
a Northern Song
During
the sequence for the song 'Only a Northern Song', as the line "If
you're listening late at night, you may think that band is not quite
right." is being sung ablood-red image of Paul is shown full
screen. Could this be telling us what's not quite right about the
band? |
| |
Nowhere
Man - Backwards
During
the sequence for 'Nowhere Man' near the end just as John is singing
"Please listen, you don't know what you're missing." a
shot of Jeremy is shown standing on what could be interpreted as
a record. However, the record he's standing on is going anti-clockwise,
thus being played backwards. Is this telling us that we're missing
out on something because we aren't playing records backwards? It
might explain the number of reversals discovered in their work. |
| |
Nowhere
Man - The Open Palm
This
happens twice, both at the start of the 'Nowhere Man' section when
the group are walking forwards and again at the end as they're walking
backwards. As they're singing and dancing along George briefly yet
continually holds his open-palmed hand up
above Paul's head. Why? |
| |
All
Together Now - 2 Pauls?
During
the sequence for the song 'All Together Now' just before the song
breaks into chorus the group are shown dancing around the submarine
machinery. For some reason though, there appears to be 2 Pauls -
one coming out of the hatch and the other in what appears to be
in a control room. Not only that, but they both appear to be moving
exactly the same. Why is Paul the only member to be shown with an
identical double? click on the image to see a full screen shot. |
| |
P
is for...?
Just
after the Beatles pick up Jeremy the Nowhere Man, their engine develops
a fault and subsequantly repaired. The sub then gets into difficulty
and the group, with Jeremy, all get out as work is done on the propellor.
This causes the sub to speed away with Fred shouting "H is
for Hurry! E is for Ergent! L is for Love me...." with John
finishing it with "And P is for... goodbye?" P is, obviously,
the first letter for Paul, so 'Paul is for goodbye'? |
| |
True?
As
the camera pans over the headlands numerous little messages can
be seen on each one. The most intreresting is a head split in half
with the word 'TRUE' written inside. Is this telling us that there
is truth in head injuries?
|
| |
The
Funeral March
Just
after the Beatles arrive in Pepperland a funeral march is shown
moving past in the background. Why does Paul act so shocked at this? |
| |
The
Guitarcase Coffin
When
the Beatles escape from the Blue Meanies, they hide in instrument
cases. As the Beatles come out of their hiding places Paul opens
up the front of the guitar case he was lying in exactly how someone
would open a coffin lid as they were getting out of it. An intentional
reference? |
| |
NOW
During
the end sequence for the song 'All You Need is Love' song sings
the line "Yes, he's dead" at the exact same time that
the word NO turns into NOW. So who's dead now? |
