If you are planning to visit The Vauld in Marden for your holidays this year please read the following guide prepared by Adrian Hulme
There are two Vauld farm B&Bs so make sure you are staying at the one run by Mrs Bengry - that is Jimmy Garland's sisters place.
What is now the breakfast room was the front room where Abby & Jimmy lounged. This room leads out to the "front" - i.e. the lawn area where Jimmy led the horse. The building did have a small washhouse here - but it is now gone.
If you ask Mrs Bengry to show you or if you are staying in there - there is Abby's room - the bedroom Jimmy comes into in the morning with Abby in bed & delivers the post.
The cottage next door is Emma's Cottage.
If you explore the road a little that Emma's Cottage is on - walking the opposite way the bus drove you will see a field on your right with a large red roofed barn - that is the field Jimmy is seen riding through.
If you turn right out of the gate of the Vauld & walk a very short way on your left is a gate near some very tall trees - this is the road Jimmy shouts to Abby on and she says here I am. Continue on this road and it bends to the left. At the place it bends to the right a little way on there is a trackway to a place called Marden - just where this track meets the road is where Buckmaster had his tent.
Now assuming that you are driving from Hampton Court to The Vauld - take a right out of Hampton and the next right - just before the Murco petrol station. Right again at the junction and next left - you are driving down the road Jenny drives down in Something of Value. At the end of this road there is a junction - this is the junction Jenny is kidnapped at - you will know if it is the spot as to the left is a sub station and to the right is tanker hill.
Go over tanker hill and take the next left - this is the road to the Vauld - also the road where Buckmaster had his camp etc - see above.
If you drive down tanker hill you will find the first gate on your left at the bottom is where Jenny parked the landrover when the tankers brakes failed.
A little further on is a very small passing place - where the tanker crashed - for filming purposes it was turned round to face the other way - i.e. facing Tanker Hill.
If you go to Bodenham wine tasting - very close - the path you drive down to get to the tasting is "Daffodil drive" - where the bus stopped in Starvation.
Ledbury - the Ford - go out of Ledbury and go towards Malvern. Take a right to Eastnor Castle. At Eastnor Castle on the corner take a right - but not into the Castle - after a good mile or so you will come to the Ford Abby stops at.
Also in the area very close is Great Malvern Train Station - aka Brimpsfield. If you drive out from Ledbury you will go up the Hey road - where Abby drove and Jenny ran down the banking shouting 'Hey'!
