Ferrari 365 GTC4

In 1971 Ferrari produced the 365 GTC4 to appeal to a different market  than the  racy  GTB4 Daytona. This was a 2+2 with a small pair of rear seats that were useful  as extra  luggage space but   air conditioning and  power steering  made it more useable car for everyday motoring. It  was an exceptionally nice car to drive & its initial harsh reception as "Il gobbone" (The humpback) soon softened after a short test drive. In  a production run  touching  three years only 508 cars  were built of which, according to Hilary Rabb's book, only 38 were right hand drive cars. My car is one of these much rarer RHD versions

This is  the  story of MPB 130K & this site  records the  dismantling and subsequent restoration of  this 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC4  VIN  15989.

I  bought  MPB 130K  in October in 1998 and this is a detailed account of its restoration. It had a number of owners in its early life but the last owner kept the car & maintained it quite well  for more than 22 years. After dismantling  down to  the  last nut and bolt I  then  began the painstaking task of putting it all  back together. It was a great enterprise but an extraordinary amount of time must be devoted to a project like or years disappear. I  have been  working  my car for the past 5 years & the car was back on the  road after seven years. It was well worth the wait

Ownership History

I thought this information might be really difficult  to find  but it  turned out to  be an simple exercise. A £5.00 cheque together  with the VIN  and registration numbers  to the Fee  Paying Section of the DVLC in Swansea produced  the desired result. Three weeks later I received a printout of the main file entry  and a photocopy of the original registration document.
