We use the term guidance, as members are volunteers qualified by attaining IAM test standard and subsequently the Observer standard which permits them to offer guidance sessions to applicants who have subscribed to associate membership
When you become an associate, our guidance administrator will allocate you to an Observer and introduce you at our Saturday morning meet - or by telephone arrangement - you will then ride out for a couple of hours or so on an assessment ride. At the end of which you will discuss what strengths and weaknesses have shown up and thus those elements which need to be worked upon.
Over the course of the following weeks your riding standards will steadily improve whilst you will also absorb and incorporate into your skills " fore ward observation and riding plans" your record sheet will mark your improvement until your Observer considers your standards have earned a date for assessment by a Senior Observer
The IAM Test is carried out by an IAM Nominated examiner who holds a Police Advanced Motorcycling Certificate, typically of 90 minutes duration & taken place within the Groups catchments Area.
