The Hampden is 54 cm tall, 32 cm wide and 25 cm deep. It is fitted with a top quality spring driven, mechanical movement that incorporates a 5-jewelled Swiss lever escapement. It has three different chimes (Westminster, Whittington and St Michael) that can be selected by a lever at the side of the dial. It also has permanent night silence fitted which silences the chimes between 10 p.m. and 7:15 a.m. The dial is solid brass with brass spandrels, a seconds hand and a moving moon in the arch. The quality and beauty of this dial really is outstanding. The sides are fitted with an oak lattice backed with red silk and above each lattice is a solid brass lion's head ring handle. The base is finished off with reeded brass feet and the top with five urn finials. An extra luxury is the little oak drawer in the front of the base to store the winding key.
