Open University Circular Slide Rule

This circular slide rule was made for the Open University by Fearns Calculators of Dunston, Gateshead. It was issued to students on the second level course TM281 Modelling by Mathematics.

The C and D scales are 113 mm in diameter, giving them each a length of 355 mm (or 14 inches). In standard slide rule notation the scales on the front (from the outside inwards) are

D [C B] A S T.

These designations are not used, but instead the following labels are used.

Basic scale
Square scale
Sine
Tangent
