Click here to see a full length image of the front of the slide rule (222 kB).

This slide rule has the following scales on the front: C [D $mkg I] A. The $ m kg scale shows various conversion factors when read in conjunction with the D scale. For example:

1 m = 1.094 yd
$1 = £0.205
1 kg = 2.205 lb

The I (interest) scale could also be labelled DIF since it is an inverted and folded D scale. It is folded so that 1% on the I scale is opposite 360 on the D scale.

The scales are 25 cm long. As well as the 25 cm ruler along the top edge there is a 10 inch ruler along the bottom edge that is not visible in the photograph.

nestler no 40 - back

The back of the slide (above and below) has three linear scales (L S d) to permit conversion between pounds (L), shillings (S) and pence (d). For example: 0.2 pounds = 4 shillings = 48 pence.

Click here to see the full length image of the back of the slide (60 kB).
