1939 HMV 1101

This is a nice piece of kit, built like a brick outhouse, and using nice sensible Octal valves in a nice sensible circuit. It's got a decent bit of age to it, and it's in nice order so I think it will make a very sensible restoration project. There are some moans. First, there's a scratch down the side of the cabinet. It's dead straight and has only gone through the polish, leaving the wood underneath untouched. How did someone manage that? There's also a little hole in the top right corner of the front. It's a little bigger than a woodworm hole, and woodworm don't take the polish off when they leave. How did someone manage that? Never mind, it'll wax in OK. The other moan is the back, which used to be held in place by leather straps at the top and screws at the bottom. The leather has decomposed and left the back flapping at the top. I do know a man who will be able to make some reproduction straps for a reasonable price, if you need his services.
Other than that, this is a decent piece of kit which needs someone to take an interest in it and make it work like the day it was made. It's not seventy years old yet so it's got plenty of life left in it!
