1948 Ever Ready C/A

A nice little Ever Ready battery portable. This is an iconic design, and this is a nice example. It's the later version with the (cheaper) B7G miniature valves inside. The original Model C had octals, but this one uses things like DAF91. There are, of course, a few moans with this. First, it's got a light peppering of woodworm holes. Nothing drastic, and you'd have woodworm if you'd been in Cornwall for fifty years, but they're a moan. They are mainly in the bottom of one side (see photo). Second moan is the small split in the plastic covering of the handle (see photo). Third moan is that some oaf has shoved the chassis back in and scratched the paint on the front panel just under two of the knob-holes (see photo). You can touch it up with the right colour paint, because the front panel is transparent acrylic and the paint is on the inside surface. Fourth moan is that some oaf has lost one of the knurled back screws.
After all that moaning, I ought to point out that this is a very nice example of a set which was never very heavily built and is often found in dreadful condition. It's got all the right knobs and innards, and will make a very nice set if you give it the usual treatment. Obviously battery sets are not to practical, but if you have a collection of battery sets and just the one HT power supply, it's not too bad. It doesn't seem to have been "got at" inside, and I think you'll enjoy it.
