ACAAN (Any Card At Any Number)
Here's the basic effect and this is EXACTLY what the spectators see...
You table a cased deck, then remove a small, thin note-pad from your shirt pocket and ask one person to name ANY card. Let's assume he says, "The Queen of Spades." You record this on the pad. You next ask a second person to name ANY number from 1 to 52. Let's assume this person says, "22". You record this too, then pick up the cased deck. You remove the cards and show that they are all different. You hand the deck to one of them, and ask that he deals down to the 22nd card... it's the Queen of Spades!
You WILL definitely use ACAAN and all the other variations in this e-book. Let me tell you about some of the other presentations...
You can have ANY card named and, using the same procedure as above, hand the deck to someone for them to spell down to it.
Alternatively, you could have them deal/spell ANY word (or phrase) and their named card will appear on the last letter. You could even use the name of the company you are representing at a trade show; ANY person's FULL name; the names of their four children; their dogs etc.
You borrow ANY book, and you table a cased deck. You quickly flick through the book, explaining that you are speed-reading the first 52 pages, then hand the book back. You now ask someone to name ANY card. Once again, we'll assume he says the Queen of Spades.
You pick up the cased deck and remove the cards, which you show are all different. You (or he) now deal/counts through looking for his named Queen of Spades. Say it turns out to be the 42nd card. You tell him to turn to page 42, count down to the 4th line and look at the 2nd word. You enter your trance like state and s-l-o-w-l-y reveal the word!
If you prefer, you could hand someone a written prediction (before you start) and use your own copy of a current best-seller to perform the above routine with. For the finale, as incredible as it sounds, your prediction (in their possession throughout) reveals the very word that they are now looking at!
FOR CABARET OR SMALL GROUPS
Once the card and number have been named, you ask if everyone would be amazed if you had a giant playing card in your pocket (or an envelope) with the named card on its face and the named number on its back. Everyone will agree that they would be. You remove a jumbo sized laminated card, which has ALL 52 CARDS printed on one side and the numbers 1 to 52 printed on the other side! You allow at least five minutes for the laughter to subside?
