The current season of Comedy nights at the Clock Inn is well under way and quite frankly if
you like to laugh then you should be there, check out the events calendar for details.
Sunday 28th October was an excellent evening not at all detrimented by the no show of the support act.
Junior Simpson was on form with a healthy mix of topics ranging from race and geography to sex and babies, clearly a very proud parent. This is the first time I have seen Junior and I found him easy going and he held a good banter with the decent sized audience. There were some moments when I laughed so hard I made my mascara run! He was also very good natured when a certain member of the audience (who might have been on my table) couldnt resist a little joke of his own! Despite the extended set he had plenty of material without needing to resort to extremes. I have no doubt he will be back at the Clock Inn and I look forward to seeing him again when he is.
As the support act was apparently stuck in traffic, the aesthetically pleasing compere, Stuart Goldsmith, agreed to do an extra 20 minutes at the end. He was obviously a little nervous at following Junior Simpson, however once he got going he was highly entertaining and made for a very funny end to the evening, particularly if like me you share his bad taste in films.
My two big disappointments were a) finding out that the cute compere has a girlfriend, and b) not winning the joke competition again!! I am coping well with the trauma and already have my space booked for Sunday 11th November. You will be there too if you know whats good for you.
