Click for large image Originally all the components where nicked, then I noticed that the monitor had no curves. ALL monitors have curves, so I knocked one up based on my works model. The box also looked decidedly edgy. Then the keyboard. The only "borrowed" bits are the keys on the keyboard. Maybe later.
Click for large image Lights are always the most work. The planes and ships were taken from a free repository somewhere. Bog all to the scene really, just a plane with a world map painted on, 3 lights using shadowmap shadows, a couple of cylinders and a cube.
Click for large image Get hold of a plasma fractal (Fractint makes these quite well). Greyscale it in PSP or your preferred paint package. Translate brightness to height using displacedatplace in Coolpowers. Paint it shiny green. Jobsagoodun!
Click for large image About an hour and a half. The only real work involved was the rule and compasses. The pencil is just a low res cylinder with a cone removed from the end The rule is the correct shape and made of transparent plastic with a medium refractive index and almost total transparency, the numbers are a mask created in Paint Shop Pro and stuck on the base.
The stuff on the blueprint is a load of rubbish and wasn't even spel checked. D'oh!
