This
league will be called CLASSIC LEAGUE
LEAGUE FORMAT
1.
The league shall consist of teams of four bowlers and is a mixed
handicap league.
2.
2 points are awarded to the winner of
each game and 2 points are awarded to the winner of the team total
series, all including handicap.
LEAGUE START
1.
Start of the new league will be Tuesday
11th March at 7.00 p.m. starting from lane 1.
2.
Practice will start at 6.45 p.m.
DURATION OF LEAGUE
1.
Duration of the league will be 28 weeks, 8 league teams will bowl
four times against each other.
TEAMS
1.
Each team can consist of a maximum of
six registered bowlers.
2.
A new bowler can be registered on a team providing the secretary
has been notified a week in advance and providing it does not exceed the
maximum of six registered
bowlers.
3.
Teams cannot register new bowlers or transfer bowlers during the
last 25% of the league season
i.e. seven weeks of the 2008 league season.
4.
The only exception to the rule is that each team must be
permitted to maintain a minimum of four bowlers in their team and
therefore must be allowed to register new bowlers providing the
secretary has been notified in writing that
a bowler has left the team.
HANDICAP
1.
All handicaps will be calculated on the basis of 80% of the
difference between the
bowlers current average and 180.
2.
An existing league bowlers average
shall be used for the first three weeks of the league season.
3.
For bowlers without an existing league
average, the first nights average shall be used for the first three
games bowled.
4.
There will be a maximum handicap of 60 pins per bowler per game.
LEAGUE
FEES
1.
League fees will be £9.45p for three
games.
2.
Classic League Fund will be £2.55 per
team member. Total league
fees per bowler is £12.00p.
3.
As we are now a contract league, all
league fees must be paid in to
the treasurer when playing pre-arranged matches, and NOT
to the
bowling centre.
4.
ALL LEAGUE FEES MUST BE TAKEN TO THE
TREASURER
DURING THE PRACTICE PERIOD BEFORE BOWLING STARTS.
TEAM
AWARDS
1.
This league will award prizes for the high
scratch and handicap
scores for the season.
2.
If a team qualifies for more than 1 season
game and/or series prize
the team may receive 1 game and 1 series award with the scratch
awards taking priority over the handicap awards.
3.
At the end of the season a bowler must
have completed 50% of the games
to be eligible for a team award i.e. 42 games for this season.
INDIVIDUAL
AWARDS
1.
This league will award individual prizes
for the high scratch and handicap
scores for the season.
2.
If a bowler qualifies for more than 1
season game and/or series prize the
bowler may receive 1 game and 1 series award with the scratch
awards taking
priority over the handicap awards.
3.
At the end of the season a bowler must
have completed 50% of the games
to be eligible for an individual award i.e. 42 games for the
season.
LEAGUE POSITIONS
1.
In the event of a tie on points between two or more teams for
any league position
at the end of the season, the team with highest scratch total for
the season will decide the actual league position.
2.
At the end of the season a bowler must have completed 50% of
the games
to qualify for a league position award i.e. 42 games for the
season.
HIGH AVERAGE
1.
A prize will be awarded for high average man and high average
woman.
2.
At the end of the season a bowler must have completed 50% of
the games
to qualify for a high average award i.e. 42 games for the
season.
MOST IMPROVED BOWLERS
1.
A prize will be awarded for the most improved man and most
improved woman
starting from week 1. New
bowlers do not qualify.
2.
At the end of the season a bowler must have completed 50% of
the games
to qualify for a most improved bowler award i.e. 42 games for
the season.
TEAM
AND INDIVIDUAL TROPHIES
1.
Trophies will be awarded for the first, second and third places
in all categories except high
average and most improved bowlers (first
place only).
2.
In the event of a tie for first place, the bowlers will share
first and second place.
In the event of a tie for second place, the bowlers will share
second and third place.
n the event of a tie for third place, the bowlers will share third
place.
3. All
trophy winners will be able to choose between either trophy or cash.
LEGAL LINE-UP
1.
A legal line-up for a team is four registered bowlers or a
minimum of two registered
bowlers and two blind scores.
BLIND SCORE
1.
The blind score will be 140 pins per
game with no handicap.
WRONG LANE BOWLING
1.
If a bowler bowls on the wrong lane it will be a foul, the
second ball only will be
bowled on the correct lane.
LATE BOWLERS
1.
ALL MATCHES MUST START AT 7.00 P.M.
2.
Any bowler who has not arrived by 7.00 p.m. must be entered as
a blind and can only
participate in the game if they have arrived before the
completion of the third frame of the first game.
3.
The same rule applies for the second
and third games.
4.
Late bowlers will be responsible for paying in their own league
fees to the treasurer.
POSTPONEMENTS
1.
In the event of a postponement, one weeks notice must be given
to the opposing team and the
league secretary.
2.
Late notice will only be accepted due to unforeseen emergencies
and at the discretion of the league officers.
Postponed matches must be pre-bowled within 21 days prior to the date
of the postponed match.
If possible, both teams should bowl together on the re-arranged date.
If the opposing team cannot bowl on that date, then the teams
can bowl separately.
3.
The scores will be entered the week you pre-bowl and not the
week you should have bowled.
Pre-bowling teams will have their scores witnessed and should also
obtain a print-out.
4.
Only 4 pre-bowls will be allowed per team per season.
With one more allowed in
dire emergencies only.
5.
League fees for pre-bowled matches must be paid to the
treasurer before the day of the pre-bowled match.
6.
No team will reasonably refuse to accept a postponement by the
opposing team.
7
If a team does not attend on a regular league night and have not
informed the opposing team
captain and the secretary,
they will forfeit the match.
8
When bowling against a BYE or a FORFEIT, the team must bowl
within 60 pins of their own
average to win the points only if they have a full
team of four bowlers.
If the team has only two or three bowlers they
will have to bowl to their combined average to win the points.
The team average is the
sum of the bowlers who bowl.
In the case of a tie, the team
wins the points (points are not split).
9.
When bowling a BYE the captain will ask a captain on an adjacent
lane to verify score of each game
and sign score sheet at the end of match.
QUALIFICATION
FOR FINAL FUN NIGHT, MEAL AND RAFFLE.
1.
In order to qualify for the final fun night, meal and raffle at
the A.G.M. bowlers
must have bowled 9 matches throughout the current league season.
2.
If you have bowled 8 or less matches you can make up the
difference at a cost of the
Classic League Fund (£2.55p) per missed match in order to
qualify for all three.
LANE BREAKDOWN
1.
In the event of a lane breakdown, the two teams concerned will
wait a maximum of ten minutes.
2.
After ten minutes the team captains will ask if there are any
lanes available to finish their
match, if they are offered lanes, they cannot
refuse.
3.
If no lanes are available to finish the match that evening, then
the scores up to that point will
be recorded.
4.
The remainder of the match must be completed by the following
Tuesday with both teams playing together.
(The scores of the frames already
played will be entered onto the screen by A.M.F.).
5.
If it is not possible for both teams to attend on the same day,
then the teams will play on
separate days.
6.
All four of the bowlers who started the match must finish the
match, if any bowlers cannot
attend, then a blind must be played (maximum of 2).
7.
If the match is finished with teams bowling on different days,
the teams must have an
independent witness and a print-out from A.M.F.
FOULS
1.
A foul is when you step on the foul line, a foul will
automatically go on
your score.
2.
A foul is also when any part of the body goes over the foul line without
touching the foul line, in this case the score should be
adjusted
manually.

LANE
ETIQUETTE
Bowlers approaching the lanes in
order to bowl should
give way primarily to bowlers on
their right before
stepping on to the lane.
It may also be necessary to give way
to bowlers on your left
if they are ready to bowl before you.
When you have bowled your first ball,
please step off
the lane until you are ready to bowl
your second ball.
