From September 2008, I will be running a 10-week evening class with this title at Trinity Adult Education Centre in Carlisle. This course was previously run at William Howard School in Brampton in 2005 and at Trinity in 2007.
From today's Cumberland News: "In last week’s review of The Border by Anton Hodge it was said he had met a “dog of a landlady” in Berwick. Anton wishes to point out that he was in fact referring to the landlady’s dog, which appeared to open the door to him and his companion." (Added 08.06.07)
This weekend's Cumberland News has a review of the Border, but alleges that I used a rather insulting phrase when talking about the Bed and Breakfast landlady in Berwick. I just want to make it clear that this phrase does not appear in the book anywhere! I think the reviewer has misunderstood something somewhere... (Added 02.06.07) The full review can be seen here. (Update - The Cumberland News will be issuing a correction to this piece- see item above. They have now updated their website)
I will be appearing on BBC Radio Cumbria at 9.30am on Sunday 3rd June to talk about "The Border - A History in 10˝ Chapters" (Added 26.05.07)
My new book "The Border - A History in 10˝ Chapters" was published on 24th May 2007. The publication coincided with a new edition of "The Great Wall of Britain" (Added 26.05.07)
