Description:

A twig totally covered in a foliose lichen, possibly Hypogymnia physodes. Lichens are organisms formed from a symbiosis between an alga and a fungus. There are numerous such combinations with different appearances from the orange and greys growing on our rooftops or gravestones to the hanging 'beards' on trees in Wales.
