The town of March may have
lost its railway marshing
yards at Whitemore
but it now has a vintage cycle club to be proud of. The March
Vintage & Veteran Cycle Club .The club which was formed on
the 28th of April 1983 with 30 members in it, now has over 70
Members, who now own a wide range of vintage and veteran cycles.
It has it own rally which gets better each year (see below). The
club attends the other vintage cycle clubs rallies in the UK and
in other countries. It also goes to lots of events like the Nene Valley Railway transport weekend and fetes and
parades. The clubs own vintage cycle rally was held in the town
of March for the a number of years, but for the last few years,
this rally has been held at Upwell, were the club has also hoisted
the N.A.V.C.C. rally in 1996 The club had also hosted the NAVCC
rally in 1986.
This page on the

2001

2001
The start of January 2001
saw March Vintage & Veteran Cycle Club holding their famous
Freewheeling competition. This is strange as March is in the middle
of the very flat fens. There is not a hill any were. The March
members hit on the I dear of using a railway bridge. The riders start on top of the bridge
and then free wheel down! 52 members turned out on bright but
bitterly cold day. Then they then all went afterwards for a hot
lunch.
