The K.W.F.F.L. likes to think that it responds to public demand... and this page is something we've had a special request for!!!!
How it develops is down to YOU people out there. Anything to do with golf that you feel is 'interesting' will be considered.

Played on 11th June 99 at Pavenham.
A select band of golfers met at 0815hours in the carpark on an overcast morning. Last minute withdrawals meant the field was six strong! Early morning Will went off like a train, booming drives and scoring an amazing 9 points Stapleford on the first 3 holes! Could it last? It didn't! He ran up scores of 7, 8, 7 and 9 on the next four (including a visit to Watery Grave).
Morning Stapleford Winner - Tom Campbell 43 points.
Slight adjustments were made to handicaps over lunch, the main being Tom cut from 29 to 24!
Afternoon Stapleford Winner - Andy Webster 37 points.
An excellent day was had by all. Golf - what a game... as Dave Webb said on hole 10 'if it had been straight it would have been on the green!!'

36 Hole event.
Tom Campbell, Will Mclaughlin, Paul Stacey, Dave Webb, Andy Webster and Don Webster. There was much initial debate over handicaps!!!
Dave had an average start, but a Par on the easy ninth fired him onto a run of form. He finished with four Pars from the last five holes.
Don managed an excellent chip and putt par (when does he get any other sort??) On the tricky 4th.
The second 3 ball all struggled early on, and Watery Grave saw the first of Tom's mega pulls! Tom was playing remarkably well over the middle holes.
Paul played one of the shots of the day from an almost imposible position in a bunker on hole 7, ending up 3 feet away.
Andy was going steadily without really hitting peak form, although a good putt for Par on 8 stopped some of the 'tut - tuts'.
Mid morning a rumour spread around the course that there was a Mexican playing: but people soon realised that there was only one bandit on the course and his initials were T.C. !!
Tom kept going incredibly well and recorded a score of 92 - the best of his career!
Will announced that for the afternoon he was being sponsored by Johnnie Walker... Incredibly he ended up scoring 103, exactly the same as his morning effort.
Andy had a bad start but began playing well from hole 7 and had an Eagle putt just miss on 9.
This Birdie helped him eventually card an 85.
Dave's sagging spirits were revived by a slice of the Dawn's fruit cake and he had a good back 9 - for reasons known only to himself playing the last four holes wearing only one shoe! psychedelic golf or what!
Overall Stapleford Winner - Tom Campbell 75 points.
Nearest the pin on 16 - Dave Webb.

01536 260753 No handicap certificate You can book 6 days in advance | An impressive municipal course, which is usually in pretty good condition - especially considering the ammount of use it gets. Best play in the week as very busy at weekends. |
No.2 - 382 Yards, Par 4.
The fairway all slopes left to right and a very accurate tee-shot is required or you can easily fall away into the trees - leaving no shot. A good 1st hit leaves a shortish iron approach, but the green is raised and there are deep bunkers as either side. For higher handicappers the ditch approx. 60 yards short of the green can come into play. The green itself is very sloping and you can easily 3 putt.
Trivia; Ian 'Beaver' Williamson hit an amazing tee-shot here that fizzed away at approx, a fortyfive degree angle straight into the trees.
No.13 - 476 Yards, Par5.
A short Par 5 made very tricky by the incredible number of bunkers from around 100 yards out, right up to the Green.
You can cut as much of the right-to-left dog leg off as you dare from the tee; it's possible to reach in 2. Trouble in the form of sand, however, lurks everywhere.
Trivia; Lloyd Kelly and Andy Webster once halved this hole in birdie 4's.
No.10 - 440 yards. Par 4.
Long, straight and tough. Immediately in front of the tee is a lake - this shouldn't worry anyone who considers themselves to be a 'golfer' (see trivia). The tendancy is to go a bit right with your 1st, which brings the big bunker front right into play. A Par here feels like a birdie.
Tivia; Will McLaughlin ince hit 13 - yes 13! - balls into the lake from the tee. Unbelievable, but true.
A good test of your golf with lots of interesting holes where trouble lurks not far away. Keep it straight and you'll be ok. Unfit players should make sure they've taken their Digoxin before attempting the 18th!!

Phone No. 01234 822202 Price - £30 per day in the week. NO handicap certificate needed. Look out for 2-for-1 vouchers in local papers, plus will often do a good deal for a society. (£23 for day wity Ploughman's lunch thrown in if you speak nicely to Mario!) | This is a course you may not have heard of, but one that is well worth checking out. You can book well in advance and it's (generally ) not too busy. |
5th - "Bessley's Pot." 501 Yards. Par 5
You can run up any score here! Trouble lurks initialy down the left - it's possible to end up in the lame from the tee, or in the none-too-appealing mud! A ditch runs for approximately 100 yards short of the green and catch 2nd and 3rd shots.
6th - "Watery Grave." 188 yards. Par 3
All carry over the lake! A real do or die tee-shot.
14 - "Pine Alley." 366 Yards. Par 4
A frightning tee-shot awaits. Over the massive trees, or 'Bail out' right and risk the trees further right?? A good first hit, and a Par awaits. Otherwise it's double -bogey time...
The green is there a slopier on anywhere??
Very sloping and tricky. Pretty good, but possibly not what they were a couple of years ago (then, you could say that about all of us..)
A very good day's Golf can be had at Pavenham. Trouble lurks on most holes, so we wouldn't recommend beginners to visit. If you 'can play' then it's a real challenge and to score to your handicap is a good achievement.
Overall K.W.F.F.L. Rating 8 out of 10.
