Malcolm Buntrock - Suffolk Artist

malcolm.JPG (5701 bytes)

During a highly successful career as an art director in leading London advertising agencies Malcolm won many prestigious national and international awards in the 1970s and 80s. However, a long-standing love affair with Suffolk resulted in the purchase of a holiday cottage, followed inevitably by the decision to live and work permanently in what Malcolm calls "A place that touches your soul".

For many years Malcolm has expressed his passion for Suffolk through drawing and painting, using a wide variety of media including oil, pencil and watercolour. His illustrations have appeared regularly in The East Anglian Daily Times under the title Saturday Sketchbook, and his work finds wide popular appeal reproduced as postcards, greetings cards and calendars.

Suffolk Scenes Book
& Calendar

The Suffolk Scenes Book and Calendar both capture the spirit of the county, its rich diversity of natural landscapes, man-made delights, human achievement and ideosyncrasies; a Suffolk that is not a museum-piece, preserved in aspic and existing only to please tourists and holiday-makers, but a living, thriving and changing county which looks forward to a glorious future whilst rejoicing in a prestigious past. Malcolm has for many years explored the by-ways of Suffolk, seeking out its famously beautiful scenes and discovering many unsung ones.

ssbook_pages.jpg (32203 bytes) Such is the profusion of visual pleasures to be found in Suffolk, the task of selecting scenes for the book and the calendar has proved very difficult. It is hoped that the choices made will please both the natives of Suffolk, who are already experts on the county, and its visitors, who are just beginning to find their way about.

In the book and the calendar, you will find not merely the traditional view of Suffolk as unspoilt, pastoral idyll, with picturesque cottages and expansive countryside under a huge sky, but also the varied coastline, the bustling towns, sublime churches, quirky pubs and modern-day industry that make Suffolk what it is today.

The Suffolk Scenes Book is due to be reprinted in 2005 and is expected
to be available at a price of around £10.

The Suffolk Scenes 2005 Calendar will be available from August 2004
