A lesson From History
In times past many of the major cities had no sewerage system and the inhabitants dumped their effluent into rivers and streams.
In London this reached a peak during the 1800’s when the river Thames was nothing but an open sewer. This period became known as The Great Stink of London, water supplies became contaminated, people were ingesting their own excrement, cholera was endemic and in the year 1848 the death toll reached over 14,000.
Members of the House of Commons refused to attend Parliament because of the stench coming from the river and curtains soaked in quick lime were hung in the windows in an attempt to control the stink and disease.
At the time, the cause of the cholera epidemics was unknown, and experts of the day declared the cause was due to the smell or bad air, it was known as the miasma theory. It was not until Dr Snow discovered the real cause proving the so-called experts wrong, that cholera was brought under control.

We are in a similar situation with the Hum, because it sounds like a noise the so-called experts declare it is a noise and doggedly apply their simple acoustic theory even although all the empirical evidence is against it.

To protect against cholera, the experts of the time suggested using a nosegay of sweet smelling flowers, to protect against the Hum today’s experts suggest using a psychiatrist!
