The Exorcist:

THE EXORCIST is the story of a twelve year old girl who becomes possesed by the devil in order to test the faith of those around her. It is in my opinion clearly the best film ever made, and for it's time (1973) the special effects (all mechanically achieved with the exception of the flying vomit) are excellent and realistic enough to believe what is happening.

I wouldn't class this film as horror as many do, I'm not really sure what to class it as particularly as the Catholic Church still use the film as a training aid!

Exorcist II

THE EXORCIST was followed, rather diappointingly four years later by EXORCIST II - THE HERETIC, which focuses on the nightmares that Regan has been having and a Preist who has been assigned to investigating Father Merrins' death in the first movie. Has anyone seen this movie? What is the reason behind the flashing at the end, is the whole movie in hypnosis? Let me know your views!

Exorcist III

After the flop of EXORCIST II, EXORCIST III came along in 1990 which ignored THE HERETIC and carried on where the original film left off. This movie, based on William Peter Blattys' Legion, picks up on the relationship between Detective Kinderman and Father Dyer, and involves Detective Kinderman 'studying' Patient X in a psychiatric hospital, who bears a resemblance to Father Karras and the Gemini Killer!!!
