REFFLEY TEMPLE - TODAY Page 1

All that remains, the foundation of the right side of the door to the Temple, the sphinxes incidentally, (seen on the first page) were moved to Hillington Hall in the seventies for safe keeping by the Hon. George Dawnay (the last known president of the Society), who lived there at the time.

Where the Temple stood, now overgrown, but some stone of the floor, and piles of rubble still remain. The Hon. George Dawnay tried to find someone to take over the temple, eg The Reffley Association, perhaps as a storage facility for football equipment for the green in front of the site, or a place for their meetings, but no one was interested and the place was a victim of vandalism and decay.
