Small Blue

This is Britain's smallest butterfly.It is found in small colonies on the downs,usually where kidney vetch grows.It is silver-grey on the undersides of the wings.

 


Ringlet

The ringlet is common on the downs between late June and August.It often flies during overcast weather,if the temperature is above 15*C. It is usually very restless,although it can be seen feeding on bramble and knapweed.
