Information about myself.
I am a retired primary school teacher now working part time at Newcastle College. I live in Gateshead, a town near Newcastle, Northumberland, in the North East of England. I have two sons, a daughter, and two grandsons.
Outdoor Activities
I enjoy walking, especially fell walking in the English Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, the Cheviot Hills of Northumberland, the North York Moors and parts of Scotland. I have also walked in Iceland, the Pyrenees and in southern Spain.
Other Interests
I enjoy photography which of course fits in well with walking. I am also interested in Geology and Astronomy, indeed all aspects of Science and the living environment. More recently, as a result of meeting Spanish friends, I have begun to learn the language. Though I can read and write in the language my conversation is poor but, most of my friends in Spain speak English well. Most recently, the Internet and e-mail have helped me keep in contact with my friends. For example, I have a colleague, Federico Ortega, head teacher of San Juan Primary School in Alhaurin de la Torre, (Málaga in Andalucia) and also editor of the magazine Jabalcuza,www.alhaurin.com/Jabalcuza. Yo soy jubilado pero no completamente. Era maestro de una escuela primaria, pero ahora trabajo a tiempo parcial en Newcastle College. Yo vivo en Gateshead, una ciudad cerca de Newcastle, Northumberland, en el nordeste de Inglaterra. Tengo dos hijos, hija y dos nietos.
Actividades al Aire Libre
Disfruto andando, especialmente andando en las montañas del, "Distrito de los Lagos," en Inglaterra, los Valles de Yorkshire, las Colinas Cheviots de Northumberland, los Páramos de Yorkshire del Norte, y unas zonas de Escocia. Tambien he andado en Islandia, los Pirineos y en la España del Sur.
Otras Cosas de mi Interés
Me gusta la fotografía que complementa mi afición por el senderismo. Me intereso por la Geología y la Astronomía y en general por todos los aspectos de la ciencia y del medioambiente. Recientemente, como resultado de encuentros con amigos españoles, he comenzado a aprender el español. Aunque lo puedo leer y escribir, mi conversación no es muy bueno, pero muchos de mis amigos en España hablan inglés.
Recientemente, Internet y el correo electrónico me ayudan estar en contacto con mis amigos. Por ejemplo, tengo un colega, Federico Ortega, director del Colegio San Juan, de Educación Primaria, en Alhaurín de la Torre (Málaga en Andalucia) y director de la revista Jabalcuza,www.alhaurin.com/Jabalcuza.
