Trains and Boats and Planes

(There must be a song in there somewhere?)

The first part a train

Soren Larson is from Denmark & part of his university course, where he is studying to become a Doctor like his Father, is to travel to England to be a ‘volunteer care worker‘. He is now back in Denmark and will return to university in September 2001. He was ‘assigned' to help me "poor lad" with travelling around. Hopefully I will soon get my Driving licence back from the DVLC (which is a government Department so it will probably take 1 year!) so I can drive a specially adapted car, and will not need to use Public Transport anymore. The pair of us had to wait at Highams Park Railway Station for a train to Liverpool Street. Soren collected me at my house & I drove ‘my chariot*’ to the station. It only takes 15 minutes from the local train station to reach Liverpool Street. It's a main line train so it doesn't go through any tunnels. Just as well, because I don't like feeling locked a confined space. It's a reminder of my hospital days.

I asked a passer-by to take this picture of us, as a memento of the days event, then I headed for the shops. Even though I was "born to shop" I never bought anything, so Soren must be a good influence. We had lunch at "McDonalds" & sat outside the restaurant. It could have been anywhere in the world! Burger’s & chips all-round. It began to rain so we had to seek shelter in the station. While filling our tummies’ it was possible to look out onto Liverpool Street itself, with all the traffic of London town at midday. After lunch it was up to the pavilion. I headed for the shops again, well I am a WOMAN!  The day seems to go so fast and it was soon time to board the train home. * My name for my electric wheelchair. Why do some people think that Poppy, my little Yorkshire terrier, pulls it along when I take her for a walk, I thought I was the one with brain damage!
