The dull routine of a shabby private hotel in the West Country
is broken by the arrival of exciting new guests whose car has
broken down. A vivacious and attractive woman, her 18 years old

is comic and also tragic and the strains begin to show...

Certainly David Hare's masterpiece. A sellout at the National
Theatre with Judi Dench.
A funny, moving and fascinating play.
Esme is a well known West End actress, although her fame is diminishing.
The visit of her young preganant daughter, Amy, with a new boyfriend
sets in train chain a series of events which only culminate 16
years later.
