PRESS RELEASE
EVERYTHING COMES AROUND IN CIRCLES Election year scandals a Scottish Chancellor -PARDON ME PRIME MINISTER by Edward Taylor and John Graham opening 6th February 2001
This fast moving farce PARDON ME PRIME MINISTER by Edward Taylor and John Graham (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH TELEVISIONS YES PRIME MINISTER) is the opening play of the HIGHBURY PLAYERS SPRING SEASON at Highbury Little Theatre in Sheffield Road, Sutton Coldfield.
The play is particularly topical at the moment in the climate of a possible election year. The play is set in the Prime Ministers office at Downing Street with the Prime Minister (played by Wiley Bowkett) in trouble through possible scandal and his position in jeopardy. Desperate and frantic efforts to avoid this create mayhem on the stage, including two copies of Hansard being in places they never should be especially on young ladies!
Although the play was written in the 70s it may have been written for today as the Chancellor (played by Rob Phillips) is actually Scottish! And scandals are just as much a threat to politicians now as then.
Director June Meller has been both actor and director at THE GRANGE THEATRE in Walsall, but this is the first time as Director at Highbury although she is well known to audiences as an actor for 20 years.
The cast I have are delightful to work with, very professional, talented and helpful in every way. I am enjoying my first directorship here very much and am absolutely sure that the audiences will enjoy it even more
The play opens on Tuesday 6th and runs until 17th February.
BOX OFFICE is open every Monday and two weeks prior to and during production Monday to Friday evenings only 7.30 9.00 p.m.
