HIGHBURY YOUTH THEATRE PRESENT
GEL a TEENAGE MUSICAL by Malcolm Sircom
9th - 12th July in the Main Theatre
A fantastic night for all the family, from toddlers to Grandmas!
Highbury Youth Theatre, all thirty five of them (!) aged between 14 and 19 will be appearing on stage with their footstomping, angst ridden, all singing and dancing musical, on 9th - 12th July at Highbury Little Theatre.
Their Leader Jane Mason, said that quite a few of the youngsters are off to University this September and the play was chosen to say goodbye to them and hello to the many new members who have never been on stage before.
The play revolves around a youth group putting on a show ! -the arguments, the pressures, and the fun involved, both backstage, preparing the sets, and onstage acting. The angst comes from a group of youths outside the youth club determined to stop the show being performed, and the story tells how the youth group seek help from a martial arts expert.
Youth Theatre members have been working every Sunday afternoon at the Theatre to bring this show to audiences, with some members having to work even harder, as they are also musicians, and have created - their own band - to play the band that appears on stage in their show.
There is a twist in the tail, and audiences will have to come to this very enjoyable family evenings entertainment to find out what it is!.
Jane says that her young son really enjoys watching the rehearsals so she is absolutely sure that it is a show for all ages. There is music, singing, dancing, comedy, and a lot of fun.
