The frequency bands available to UK Radio Amateurs, the types of emissions allowed
and the maximum transmitter powers allowed, are fully detailed in the Schedule
to the Amateur Radio Transmitting Licence. Details of the mandatory
restrictions on the use of some frequencies, the requirements for special authorisation
to use some frequencies, the status of the Amateur Radio Service on each band
and the availability of the Amateur Satellite Service are also given.
Note that although the permitted types of emission are as stated below, the various Band Plans recommend those which are to be used on the bands or parts of bands. Most operators adhere to these band plans, although they are not legally binding. Unfortunately, there are a few maverick operators who refuse to abide by these "rules", which are in place to be generally beneficial to all band users.
The following tables give
the types of emissions and the maximum transmitter O/P power allowed on each
band for each of the three grades of Amateur Radio Transmitting Licence available
in the UK. The first table lists the bands available without the
special permissions granted to licensees by way of Notices of Variation. The
second table lists the spot frequencies available on the 60m band and the third
table covers the experimental 500kHz allocation.

Some UK Radio Amateurs holding Full licences, who have been granted the necessary NoV, are permitted to operate within +/- 1.5kHz of the spot frequencies listed below.
When using SSB, upper sideband with carrier frequencies set to 5.2585MHz, 5.2785MHz, 5.2885MHz, 5.3665MHz, 5.3715MHz, 5.3985MHz or 5.4035MHz must be used, in order to remain within the limits of the specified channels.

Some UK Radio Amateurs holding Full licences, who have been granted the necessary NoV, are permitted to operate on frequencies between 501kHz and 504kHz. Operation is limited to Morse emissions and is for strictly experimental purposes. Initially, power was limited to 10mW erp but this has now been increased to 10W erp.
